Witness the destiny of Pauline Le Goff Boutal — painter, illustrator, and a defining force behind the Cercle Molière, which she led for 27 years. The story of this woman ahead of her time unfolds in humorous, intimate, and deeply moving scenes. Cet été qui chantait
January 14 to 24, 2026
A production by Flammèche Théâtre
Conception, artistic direction, writing, creation, and performer-puppeteer by Marie-Ève Fontaine
Inspired by the book by Gabrielle Roy
Directed by Pierre Robitaille
A crow is carried by the breeze, soaring over mountains, the valley and the river to a small house in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. There, Gabrielle takes in the world with bright, wondering eyes: hay swaying in the wind, wildflowers blooming on manure, shorebirds, fireflies whispering at dusk. Loosely inspired by Gabrielle Roy’s beloved book, Cet été qui chantait is a soft, deeply sensory journey filled with music and imagery.

Brandi, happily child-free, hosts the family for her sister Marianne’s twins’ birthday. But when their aunt Andrée — gone for a decade — shows up out of the blue, old wounds resurface and tensions bubble up. Between cake, confessions, and clashing worldviews, this play dives into questions of freedom, family, and the fine art of disagreeing — all with a sharp comic edge and a whole lot of heart.

High on a hill, there are two of them. Not quite giants. Not really lost. Below them, others… smaller. Two times two times two. Who are they? A mystery. And maybe, just maybe, if we follow them, we can find out too!
