Partnerships and Development Lead

We recognize that Théâtre Cercle Molière is located on Treaty 1 territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anichinaabeg, Ininew, Ochéthi Sakowin peoples and on the Red River Métis Nation Homeland.

TCM is looking for a dynamic, strategic individual with excellent communication skills to fill the position of Partnerships and Development Lead.

Founded in 1925, Théâtre Cercle Molière (TCM) is Canada's oldest active theater company. A pillar of francophone culture in Manitoba, TCM is passionate about supporting creativity, sharing meaningful stories, and promoting diversity and innovation.

Under the direct supervision of the TCM's administrative director, this person will manage corporate partnerships (sponsorships) as well as philanthropic initiatives (development), while acting as the main contact with the business community, donors and foundations. He/she will develop and implement diversified fundraising strategies, including private grants, corporate philanthropy, gifts-in-kind, planned giving and individual contributions. He/she will also lead sponsorship negotiations, while ensuring the development, marketing and activation of offers.

The position includes structured mentoring with an industry expert, promoting hands-on learning in an artistic, inclusive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Design and implement the directions of the strategic funding plan
  • Develop targeted strategies to diversify and sustain revenue sources
  • Create and implement recognition practices for financial partners
  • Actively monitor sector trends and identify new funding opportunities

Sponsorships

  • Develop, negotiate, and renew corporate partnerships aligned with TCM’s values, fostering mutually beneficial agreements
  • Design and activate customized sponsorship offers, including visibility inventory management and internal coordination
  • Write clear and relevant performance reports to provide tangible returns for partners
  • Maintain long-lasting relationships with sponsors through personalized, strategic, and proactive follow-ups

Philanthropy

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with foundations, corporations, and donors
  • Identify grant opportunities and write applications aligned with TCM’s mission and priorities
  • Design and implement targeted, engaging annual fundraising campaigns
  • Ensure meaningful and personalized recognition of both financial and in-kind contributions from each philanthropic partner

Communication

  • Represent TCM to the community, foundations, and partners to build relationships and partnerships
  • Advise the co-directors on program direction and funding issues
  • Maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage and raise awareness among the team and Board of Directors to achieve development goals

Administration and Participation in TCM Life

  • Write grant applications and reports, and ensure follow-up within the funding ecosystem
  • Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to fulfill visibility commitments to businesses and foundations
  • Ensure proper follow-up on partnership and sponsorship payments in collaboration with the accounting department
  • Participate in team meetings, projects, and special TCM events
  • Organize or support donor recognition and engagement events

Skills required

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, administration, or a related field
  • Experience in development, sponsorships, or event management (an asset)
  • Experience in sales or contract negotiation (an asset)
  • Experience in grant writing and working with foundations (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills, with full fluency in French and English, both spoken and written (required)
  • Strong interpersonal, strategic, and organizational skills
  • Excellent creativity, autonomy, and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of the cultural sector or the Franco-Manitoban community (an asset)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Proficiency with digital tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, project management software, etc.)
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Salary

40,000 - $50,000 depending on experience
